Lifeguards administer CPR to American man in near drowning off Cancun beach

Cancun, Q.R. — An American man who was pulled from the sea in Cancun Sunday is resting in hospital. The 65-year-old tourist was rescued from a near-drowning after entering the rough waters in the Cancun Hotel Zone Sunday.

On duty lifeguards pulled the man from the water around 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon off a beach area of a hotel he was staying at. He was given CPR in the sand while his rescue team waited for an ambulance.

Gregory “N”, 65 from the U.S., was transferred to hospital where he was treated. Red flags continue to mark Quintana Roo beaches with the ongoing arrival of frontal systems that have created nearly a week of strong winds for the entire Yucatan Peninsula.
