Leader of criminal group captured in Cancun believed linked to bar shootings

Cancun, Q.R. — Another arrest in the deadly May Cancun bar shooting has been made. The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo has reported “the arrest of Jorge “G”, of foreign nationality, for his probable participation in the crime of aggravated homicide.”

The agency says Jorge G was captured on an outstanding arrest warrant after the follow-up to an investigation of several Cancun murders. The FGE reported that Jorge G was identified as the probable leader of a criminal group that generates violence in the northern zone of the state.

It is believed that during the months of April and May 2022, he ordered various violent actions, among them, those carried out at the bars located on Kabah Avenue on May 6 that left several dead and several others injured.
