Kidnapping cell leader wanted in Cancun murder captured in Chiapas

Cancun, Q.R. — A woman believed to be a leader of a kidnapping cell working out of Cancun has been arrested in Chiapas. Mariosl “N” was captured by the State Attorney General (FGE) of Chiapas in a coordinated effort with the FGE of Quintana Roo.

According to authorities, Marisol “N” is considered the leader of a criminal group, who, in October of 2021, is responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a Cancun resident.

In their statement, the FGE of Quintana Roo said “according to investigations, in October 2021, a victim of a confidential identity was kidnapped and subsequently killed by a group of five people, four of whom are already in prison and officially charged for their participation.”

Those four were arrested the 2021 in the same month as the kidnapping and subsequent murder. The FGE reported that Mariosl “N”, who was finally captured on an outstanding arrest warrant in Chiapas, is believed to be the fifth and last person belonging to that criminal cell.

The agency said that with the arrest of Marisol “N”, “the dismantling of that criminal cell (band of kidnappers) has been achieved.” Marisol “N” has already been transferred from Chiapas to Cancun where she will face charges.
