Tulum, Q.R. — State authorities have brought the K9 unit to Tulum to help find illegal contraband and restore peace. The dogs are being used in public places to locate items such as drugs and firearms.
Members of the Canine Unit of the Secretariat of Citizen Security carried out various inspections inside the ADO bus terminal Tuesday. According to the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) of Quintana Roo, the dogs were being used during operational and surveillance tours around Tulum.
“Members of the Canine Unit of the Secretariat of Citizen Security carried out various inspections inside the ADO bus terminal with the support of dog Kinich who specializes in searching for firearms, narcotics and explosives in Tulum,” the SSC said.
This same dynamic was carried out in Cancun where they had the support of canine Odin, who also specializes in searching for narcotics and firearms.
Last week, an American woman who was reported to have been a resident of Cancun was killed at a Tulum beach club when she was hit by a stray bullet. The bullet was from an exchange of gunfire between gang members. One of the gang members also died.
