Judge hands down 37 year sentence to convicted Cancun murderer

Cancun, Q.R. — A man found guilty of a 2021 Cancun murder has been sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison. On Saturday, Francisco Javier “N” was sentenced for the 2021 homicide of a city notary public.

“On August 6, 2021, Francisco Javier “N”, when in the company of another subject riding on a motorcycle on José López Portillo Avenue with Calle 10 to Tikal Avenue in Supermanzana 41, they waited for the victim to leave his home.

“At one point, Francisco Javier “N” and his companion pulled up alongside the car in which the victim was traveling, shooting him with a firearm repeatedly, causing him to die at the scene,” the State Attorney General (FGE) reported.

Francisco Javier “N” was sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison “for his participation in the crime of aggravated homicide against a victim, a notary public by profession, in addition to having to pay the amount of 201,645 pesos for the concept of comprehensive damage repair,” the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said.
