Judge gives woman 25 years for throwing girl off third floor of Cancun apartment

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has sentenced Adelaida del Socorro “N” to 25 years in prison for attempted femicide. The sentence was handed down Friday along with a fine for 126,000 pesos and nearly 72,000 for moral damages.

Adelaida del Socorro “N” was sentenced for the attempted murder of a minor girl after, on December 19, 2020, she threw the girl out of a third story apartment as revenge.

The woman was drinking in the company of the child at an apartment on Wallis Street in the Paseos del Mar subdivision of Cancun when the incident occurred. In a statement, the State Attorney General (FGE) said the girl lived but suffered head trauma as well as a fractured wrist.

“The woman was drinking intoxicating drinks when she called the minor, whom she took in her arms while saying that this was her revenge, and threw her from the third floor of the building causing head trauma and a fracture of her left wrist,” the FGE (Fiscalía General del Estado) reported.

A Cancun judge handed down a sentence of 25 years in prison for Adela del Socorro “N” as well as a fine of 126,735 pesos and 71,968 pesos as compensation for moral damage.
