Investigation continues into early morning fire of company buses

Cancun, Q.R. — Two vehicles belonging to the Alianza transportation company were reduced to scrap after being burned early Thursday. Cancun firemen attended to the early morning bus fires that started for unknown reasons.

The incident occurred on Miguel Hidalgo Avenue in SM 67 around 2:20 a.m. Nearby residents called 9-1-1 reporting two parked buses at the company’s base were on fire.

Five fire trucks with 15 personnel responded to the report, working more than two hours to contain the burning units. Flames quickly consumed two company buses and spread to reach the facade of the company’s office, which was also damaged.

An on-site security guard claimed to be unaware of the cause of the fire, saying by the time he noticed the flames, half of one bus had already been consumed. The company that owns the buses said they are waiting for an official investigation to determine the cause.
