Cancun, Q.R. — A man shot and killed in broad daylight over the weekend has been identified as a city dentist. On Saturday afternoon, armed men took aim at the distracted man as he unloaded the back of his car.
Police were called the scene behind Plaza Galerías in central Cancun where the victim had his dental practice. He was the target of armed men who arrived on a motorcycle and repeatedly shot at him before fleeing.
According to witnesses, the victim was unloading items from the trunk of his white car when he was approached by men on a motorcycle who shot at him several times.
Municipal police officers arrived at the scene and searched the area for the shooters but were unable to locate them. Paramedics confirmed the shot man had died.
The victim, identified as Cuban national Tomás “M”, was a dentist at Dental Med. He was murdered on the afternoon of September 19. Initial reports indicate that he had been shot in the head.
Authorities have not announced any suspects, arrests or motive for the Saturday afternoon attack.
