Cancun, Q.R. — The body of an adult male was covered on a Cancun beach Sunday while police waited for the medical examiner. His body was covered on the beach after other swimmers at Playa Gaviota Azul reported the Sunday evening drowning.
It was around 6:00 p.m. when emergency services were notified of the incident. According to preliminary information, on-duty lifeguards told police that the man was under the influence of alcohol. He was at the beach alone and on two occasions, was removed from the sea by them.
According to the Cancun lifeguards, he was repeatedly told not to go back in the water. The third time they were notified, he had drowned after being dragged out by the current.
Paramedics did attempt to revive him, but he was non-responsive to their efforts. The man, who is reported to be around 30, was from the state of Morelos.
