Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — Personnel from the Instituto de Movilidad del Estado de Quintana Roo (Imoveqroo) have removed a tariff schedule posted at a mall taxi stand. The schedule was removed Friday for the illegal increase in taxi rates.
Personnel from the Mobility Institute of Quintana Roo (Imoveqroo) removed the posted fees after receiving numerous public complaints. Inspectors arrived at the Plaza las Americas taxi stand Friday morning where they found prices being charged were more than allowed.
Three inspectors proceeded to removed the billboard of listed taxi fees being charged from Plaza las Americas to various areas of Playa del Carmen.
In a statement, state agency Imoveqroo said “responding to the call of the Solidaridad residents regarding the increase in the rate at the Plaza las Americas taxi stand, IMOVEQROO personnel removed the table displayed with an unauthorized rate increase.
“This table violates Article 198 Section II, subsection “C” of the Quintana Roo Mobility Law. The staff of the site was urged not to repeat the alteration of authorized rates.”
