Cancun, Q.R. — An inmate at the Social Rehabilitation Center (Cereso) in Cancun was found dead Wednesday. The man’s body was located by guards inside a visitor’s area bathroom.
Prison staff notified 9-1-1 who sent elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to carry out the corresponding procedures. The deceased inmate has been identified as 40 year old Armando José “Y” who was serving time for rape.
Authorities have not issued a public statement on the inmate’s death.
