Cancun, Q.R. — The search of a Cancun property led to the arrest of a woman on human trafficking charges. The arrest was made Wednesday by the Specialized Investigation Unit for Crimes of Trafficking and Exploitation.
Agents arrested the woman identified as Magaly “N” “derived from an auxiliary file for the crime of human trafficking,” the State Attorney General’s Office reported on Thursday.
“In coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), a search warrant in a property was completed where they rescued two women and detained another who served as administrator of the place,” the Office reported.
The women were locted inside a building in SM 27 of Cancun “that functioned as spa”.
“At the scene, agents managed to rescue two women as well as detain Magaly “N”, who claimed to be the administrator of the spa. In addition, they secured cash in national currency and U.S. dollars.
“After completing the procedure, agents placed the corresponding security seals on the property and subsequently placed the detained woman and the two rescued women at the disposal of the Public Ministry,” the Office explained in a statement.
