Human torso spotted by early morning Cancun boater

Cancun, Q.R. — A human torso was pulled out of the Nichupté Lagoon in the Cancun Hotel Zone Friday. The torso was spotted Friday morning in the Laguna del Amor area by those aboard a passing boat.

The remains of the man’s body was pulled from the water bound. It has been weighted with an anchor.

Authorities were at the scene Friday around 10:00 a.m. after a local boater reported the finding. Cancun firemen and marine personnel attended to the report, loading the torso into a boat for return to shore.

The initial report placed the body at Kilometer 4.5 of the Hotel Zone, however, by the time fireman and marina personnel arrived, it had drifted half-a-kilometer into the Laguna del Amor area of the Nichupté Lagoon.

Cancun authorities have not commented publicly on the finding.
