Cancun, Q.R. — The City Council of Cancun along with the state government has begun the process for the gradual, orderly and responsible reactivation of gyms and sport spaces. The reactivation began August 24 with Cancun mayor Mara Lezama saying that these types of outdoor activities may be restarted as long as both citizens and establishments comply with health protocols.
In a press conference headed by the spokesman for the government of Quintana Roo, Carlos Orvañanos Rea, the president of the Commission for Youth and Sports of Quintana Roo, Antonio López Pinzón, announced the certification process for sports centers of Quintana Roo to reopen.
“The goal is to restart sports activities gradually and responsibly. For this, a microsite was designed through which sports centers can obtain a certificate from COFEPRIS to guarantee health and avoid contagion among their users and athletes in order to continue with the reactivation of Quintana Roo’s economy with the reopening of the sports sector,” indicated Carlos Orvañanos.
Antonio López explained that “the registration will be carried out through the microsite found on the official COJUDEQ page,” noting that “500 sports facilities will be supervised for compliance with the sanitary measures specified in the protocol established to achieve the reopening of sports facilities.”
