Gunmen shoot Cancun merchant and flee on foot when getaway motorcycle fails to start

Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun seized a motorcycle left behind by gunmen who fled after killing a local merchant. Police arrived in response to the targeted shooting Monday reported inside Mercado 23.

The now deceased man has been identified by his nickname “Nacho”. He was the owner of the Santa Muerte store where the shooting took place. A woman, who witnessed the shooting, was able to describe the two men who arrived and pulled the trigger.

The woman, reported to be the man’s wife, was inside the store when a black motorcycle pulled up across the street and the two men from onboard entered and shot the owner. They then fled on foot, leaving their getaway motorcycle behind when it failed to start.

Gunmen were forced to leave their getaway bike behind when it failed to start.

Other Mercado 23 tenants called police after hearing gunfire early Monday morning. Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office cordoned off the area and collected spent shell casings while personnel from the Forensic Medical Service removed the body.
