Tulum, Q.R. — A group of people who were part of the intended eviction from Tulum land earlier this week have requested regularization. On Thursday, the group gathered outside Tulum City Hall where they requested time from the mayor, Marciano Dzul Caamal.
However, César Lauragui López, Secretary of the Civil Association for Housing of Tulum said they would not meet with the group behind closed doors, but would accept their request in writing. The group say they want the municipality to regularized the land they are occupying.
The group were part of an eviction attempt by Municipal Police on Wednesday. More than two dozen officers were sent to the invaded land, but were driven away by an angry mob who were armed with rocks.
