Group of Cuban nationals in custody for drug trafficking in Cancun Hotel Zone

Cancun, Q.R. — Four men accused of drug trafficking were arrested in the Cancun Hotel zone Friday. The group of four, according to police, are all Cuban nationals and were found in possession of a variety of narcotics.

“As a result of the strategic deployments of Operation Cancun’s Security, authorities arrested four individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking,” Cancun Police reported.

The operation was carried out by Cancun Police officers, in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the National Guard, the Secretariat of National Defense, and the Secretariat of the Navy. The men were taken into custody at kilometer 1.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard.

Police have identified them as Ediberto “N”, Nicolás “N”, Pablo “N”, and Hans “N”, all Cuban nationals.

“During the operation, 194 doses of a green, leafy substance resembling marijuana, 16 doses of a granulated substance resembling crystal methamphetamine, and various pieces of evidence related to the probable commission of crimes were seized,” they reported.

These actions are part of an inter-institutional coordination strategy to strengthen security, combat the sale and distribution of illicit substances, and maintain public order in the municipality.
