Cancun, Q.R. — A group of residents of the Tres Reyes irregular neighborhood of Cancun partially blocked a main roadway in protest of poor conditions. Area residents partially blocked a section of José López Portillo Avenue, one of the main accesses to the city, to demand authorities pave roads, add lighting and increase security.
Around 130 residents blocked two of the three avenue lanes as well as completely blocking the entrance to their neighborhood.
Initially, they had blocked one entire direction of José López Portillo Avenue, but Pablo Gutiérrez, the General Secretary of the Benito Juárez City Council, arrived and had them free one lane for traffic.
The residential protesters displayed a banner with photographs showing flooded streets among other problems neighborhood families face.
