Cancun, Q.R. — A nine year old girl has died after being rushed to hospital from a Cancun Hotel Zone beach. She was transferred to an IMSS along with her mother after both were swept out to sea Monday night.
Emergency services were called to Playa Gaviotas Azul in the Cancun Hotel Zone after witnesses on the beach saw the pair being carried out. They were returned to the sand by other beachgoers.
Paramedics arrived and performed CPR on both before transferring them to Cancun hospital. The girl died several hours after being admitted. The mother remains in critical condition. Both are reported to be local residents of Cancun.
