Fuel tanker arriving at Cancun station entangled in live lines

Cancun, Q.R. — A loaded fuel tanker pulling into a gas station in Cancun caused the gas station to be evacuated after snagging electric lines. The incident forced authorities to evacuate the area due to a possible fire.

CFE personnel were called in to help deal with the situation which resulted in a power pole falling over. The pole was left resting against the gas station hood that covers the pumps below. Behind were broken live wires that rested on the pavement as well as over the semi’s metal fuel storage tank.

The incident happened late Monday at a gas station on Bonampak Avenue near the entrance to the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Cancun fire department personnel evacuated the gas station and established a security perimeter while waiting for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to arrive. Power was cut between kilometer zero of the hotel zone and Uxmal Avenue shortly after the 6:00 p.m. accident.

There were no injuries reported. Power was eventually restored after CFE secured their pole and the downed lines.
