Cancun, Q.R. — Two people were killed instantly and two more left seriously injured after they were hit by a car while crossing a Cancun roadway.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. along Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue near the area of Alfredo Vladimir Bonfil when a car that was allegedly speeding, hit four men crossing the avenue. According to first reports of Municipal Transit, the four men were walking across the avenue when they were hit by a Mexico City-plated car.
Transit Police arrived on scene and immediately requested support from the State Attorney General’s Office, as well as paramedics who arrived and treated the injured before transporting them to hospital, while FGE experts carried out an investigation.
Elements of la Guardia Nacional arrested both occupants from inside the vehicle. The driver of the car has been identified as 23-year-old Virginia N. who was heading to Cancun.
