Cancun, Q.R. — A fourth Cancun taxi union member has been arrested in relation to two recent murders. On Thursday, Cancun police reported on the arrest of Juan Manuel “N”.
Juan Manuel “N” was taken into custody on a warrant Wednesday from a street in SM 21 of Cancun. His arrest came two days after local authorities raided the Cancun taxi union office.
According to the police statement, Juan Manuel “N” is being investigated for his relation to the murder of two Cancun taxi drivers that happened on September 12 of this year.
“After arduous field, office and technological research work, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Secretariat of National Defense, Navy, National Guard and Secretariat of Citizen Security of Quintana Roo, captured a fourth person involved in the crime of qualified homicide against two collaborators of the Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Drivers Union ,” they said.
“Elements of the Investigative Police assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Homicides carried out an arrest warrant against Juan Manuel “N” on the streets of Supermanzana 21, allegedly related to the murder of two male taxi drivers who were deprived of life and their bodies abandoned on Kilometer 270 of the Cancún-Kantunilkín highway,” authorities said in their statement.
Juan Manuel “N” is the fourth person involved in this crime. On October 31 of this year, Jonathan Emmanuel “N” was arrested and later, on November 4, the interim leader of this union, Salomón “N”, alias “Mafer”, was arrested along with Óscar Antonio “N”.
