Cancún, Q.R. — The National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) has announced a repaving project for the entrance of Kukulcán Boulevard of the Cancun Hotel Zone. The work is expected to begin June 21 and last until November 5.
The Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur) says the project will cost 56.2 million peso. Raúl Bermúdez Arreola of Fonatur explained that the contract of the project establishes 12.7 kilometers of Kukulcán Boulevard to be resurfaced, covering each of the 7.5-meter wide lanes.
The repaving will see a new layer of asphalt of between seven and nine centimeters in thickness to ensure better resistance. In accordance with the Fonatur Infraestructura work plan, the project will be carried out in areas that most require it, covering both the sea side and the lagoon side of Kukulcán Boulevard.
In order to prevent traffic congestion, the initial first stage of the work will be carried out only at night, from June 21 to August 15, but from August 16 to November 5, work will be carried out during the day and at night.
