Cancun, Q.R. — A child who was reported for being abused was rescued by Geavig staff Thursday. The little girl was taken into protective custody after a teacher made the report to authorities.
Officers from the Directorate of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) went to the school to verify the report. The five year old child was found with marks on her face and hands.
She told police that she had been hit in the face and tied at her hands by her mother. The little girl was transferred to a medical facility for an evaluation. Procedures were also carried out before the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the DIF System, to ensure protection and assistance.
