Cancun, Q.R. — Five palapa roofed homes were consumed by flames during a fast moving fire Friday. The Cancun fire department were sent to the irregular colony in SM 234 where they located the burning grass-topped buildings and wild vegetation.
According to early reports, a gas leak caused one of the palapa topped homes to catch fire, which quickly spread to neighboring homes as well as the surrounding wild vegetation.
Cancun firemen spent more than a hour extinguishing the fires, however, the five that burned could not be saved. There were no injuries reported.
