Cancun, Q.R. — UPDATED: Five people were transferred to a Cancun jail Monday after being found with weapons, ammo and a variety of narcotics. News of the Cancun arrest was made after a police operation on Avenida Bonampak.
The operation, carried out in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office, lead to the detainment of four men and one woman. An inspection of their vehicle revealed hundreds of street doses of narcotics including marijuana, cocaine and crystal along with a gun, knife, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
Cancun police report the detainment of Rubén N, Geovanny N, John N, Abdias N and Senaida N, for drug and firearm related crimes.
UPDATE: The five arrested on Monday are said to be of Cuban nationality. Among their possessions seized at the time of their arrest was a photo of the Isla Mujeres official that was shot and killed outside a Cancun home last month.
On August 11, Pedro Abirán Fuentes Cruz was shot to death while outside a home in SM 41 of Cancun. No arrests were made. Police have not officially said if any of the five taken into custody Monday are believed responsible for the shooting.
