Cancun, Q.R. — Staff and customers from inside a Chedraui in SM 98 were part of an evacuation from the plaza Thursday. The report of a gas leak at Chedraui saw the arrival of city authorities who removed everyone from the store.
Emergency 911 was made aware of the situation around 2:00 p.m. In response, city firemen and Civil Protection personnel were sent to the José López Portillo Avenue location.
Everyone from inside the grocery store along with two adjacent banks, a gym and pawn shop, were evacuated without incident. Nearly 200 people were sent to the parking lot where they waited. City officials proceeded to inspect the leaky stationary LP tank and allowed reentry once the situation was verified.
