Cancun, Q.R. — One remodeled lane of Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard has been opened to traffic. Over the weekend, the city of Cancun reported the open lane after 25 days of work.
The temporary head of the city, Lourdes Latife Cardona Muza, reported in a statement that progress is being made with 1,100 meters of road already being finished. She said that is the section that has been reopened to traffic.
Muza reiterated the importance of the remodeling project for the city of Cancun, which officially started September 4.
According to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the first section has been completed and opened to traffic. They will continue with the implemented road operation according to what is scheduled by the federal government.
Muza also pointed out that they have maintained the intensive promotion of the use of alternate roads, secondary interconnection streets and an auxiliary streets designated for those who need to get to Colosio Boulevard.
The project, which will also include a new airport junction cloverleaf system, is expected to take just over a year to complete.
