Cancun, Q.R. — An apartment fire has claimed the life of one family pet. The fire happened Friday in SM 511 of Cancun. City firemen responded to the report of a second story apartment fire in the Liverté residential complex Friday afternoon.
While they were able to put out the fire, they were only able to save five out of six dogs found inside the apartment. Neighbors reported the fire shortly before 3:00 p.m. The fire was found inside a spare room used for storage.
Everything inside the room was consumed by flames, while the rest of the apartment was smoke and water damaged. During a tour of the apartment, Cancun firemen located six dogs, one of which died in the fire due to smoke inhalation.
A cause for the afternoon apartment blaze is not known.
