Cancun, Q.R. — Firemen were at the scene of a two vehicle crash in the Cancun Hotel Zone Sunday evening. They were called in when responding transit officers found one person trapped in the backseat of a car.
Both vehicles involved were private cars that collided, leaving one of the cars on its roof. Cancun Hotel Zone traffic was heavy in the area around 6:00 p.m. when Transit officers had to close a lane due to the accident.
Emergency services were at the site of the collision at kilometer 3.5 of the hotel zone Sunday. Drivers heading toward the city center were affected by the early evening crash.
Traffic was disrupted with the arrival of ambulances in response to two people being injured. Motorists were further slowed by the arrival of the Cancun fire department who were called in to remove a trapped car passenger for hospital transfer.

“Members of the Cancun Fire Department responded to a rollover accident on Kukulcán Boulevard, involving two vehicles, one of which overturned,” Bomberos Cancun reported.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found one person trapped inside the vehicle. In coordination with medical personnel, they safely extricated the individual and provided pre-hospital evaluation.
“The area was secured by traffic and security authorities to prevent further risks. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
“Respect speed limits, avoid distractions while driving, and maintain a safe following distance. In case of an accident, remain in a safe place and immediately report it to the emergency number 911..” they said.

It was the second accident in the hotel zone Sunday. Earlier in the day, a motorcycle driver was killed while taking a corner at excessive speed.
