Firemen attend to mattress fire in third floor apartment

Cancun, Q.R. — A family had at least one room of their home ruined by an afternoon fire Tuesday. Cancun firemen were called to an address of a third floor apartment Tuesday afternoon.

At the scene, they verified that the fire was under control by the apartment’s occupants, however, personnel conducted an inspection all the same.

The mattress in a bedroom is reported to have caught fire and spread, burning nearly everything in the room, however, flames were contained.

In a report, Cancun Bomberos said two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Aside from that, there were no serious injuries.

“Residential Fire Response. The Cancun Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in an apartment on the third floor of a residential building.

“Upon arrival, personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the building, confirming that the fire was under control. Nevertheless, inspection, cooling, and safety checks were carried out to rule out any further risks.

“The fire affected the interior of one room, as well as adjacent areas, causing fire and smoke damage. As a precaution, two people received pre-hospital care for smoke inhalation. They were evaluated at the scene, and no serious injuries were reported.

“The Cancun Fire Department reiterates its commitment to public safety and encourages residents to reinforce fire prevention measures in their homes.

“In case of any emergency, report it immediately to the official numbers. To Serve and Protect!” The Cancun fire department did not say how the fire started.
