Cancun, Q.R. — A total of 15 penalties have been issued against Cancun public transport drivers in relation to road blockades of the Hotel Zone. On Wednesday, the State Attorney General’s Office requested the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute suspend or cancel 14 taxi concessions and one combi driver concession.
The request was made to the state mobility authoritiy after all 15 were found having participated in the blockade of the Hotel Zone on January 23.
According to the official letter sent by the Miscellaneous Crimes Unit, it was reported that the public transport drivers blocked communication routes and means of transportation, typified in Article 182 of the Penal Code.
The taxi drivers and one combi driver found guilty of participating in the blockades have all been identified by the State Attorney General’s Office, who says they continue to work on identifying more of the units involved.
