Cancun, Q. R. — An Emergency 911 call has lead to the rescue of one and discovery of the deceased body of another after a kidnapping in Cancun. The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports that after a call to 911, police were successful in recusing a kidnapped woman from inside a home where a man was found dead.
Police knew of the two victims, since they had already been reported as missing. The woman was able to make a call to 911, to which police responded with a search and rescue operation.
With the support of technology and video surveillance cameras, five people were arrested, three men and two women, who were captured in different places. They are believed part of a criminal group.
The FGE says that the two, a mother and her son, were kidnapped after alleged buyers expressed interest in purchasing a truck they has listed for sale. When arriving at their home under the pretext of buying the vehicle, they were instead kidnapped and taken to a safe house in SM 101 where, the FGE says, they were held captive and one was killed.
After locating the safe house, police were able to identify the perimeter of the location of the kidnappers who, after fleeing the safe house, went into hiding.
