Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun woman has been charged in her role in the kidnapping of a city resident. Esperanza “N” was officially charged Monday at a hearing for the 2021 kidnapping.
She was arrested from the streets of SM 94 in Cancun on an outstanding warrant.
The State Attorney General reported that at a hearing, Esperanza “N” was charged “for her probable participation in events possibly constituting the crime of aggravated kidnapping of a victim whose identity is withheld.”
The charges date back to the August 2021 kidnapping when armed individuals aboard a vehicle allegedly deprived the victim of his freedom. His kidnappers later demanded ransom for his release.
The money was to be deposited into the bank account of Esperanza “N”, the now-accused. “According to investigations, another female person could be related to this case,” the agency added.
