Federal Police merge with National Guard beginning January

Cancun, Q.R. — It will be in January when la Policía Federal (PF) of Quintana Roo is incorporated into the National Guard, which includes a change in uniforms and patrols. While the change is expected to be gradual, head of the Federal Police says they will not disappear, but their name will cease to be used.

Juan Francisco Rosales Garza, acting head of la Coordinación de la Policía Federal en Quintana Roo, clarified that la Policía Federal will not “disappear”, but will be incorporated into la Guardia Nacional without changing their function.

He says currently, the PF has 450 members across the state and as of January 1, the gradual incorporating of the Federal Police into the National Guard will begin.
