Federal authorities seize another Tulum property for illegal construction

Tulum, Q.R. — Federal authorities in the municipality of Tulum seized a property after they discovered illegal building. The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) was part of the collaboration in the search procedure of a property located in the Tulum National Park.

Authorities searched the tourist property Tuesday where they found an abundance of illegal construction. The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), the National Commission for Natural Protected Areas (Conanp) and the Federal Ministerial Police also found additional construction in progress.

The incomplete projects included cabins and stone walls for which protected flora, including Palm Chit, were cut. Authorities also located a wastewater pipe being emptied into a mangrove area.

Last month, federal officials seized another illegal construction project that was also located in the Tulum National Park.
