False report of firearms gets Cancun taxi driver arrested anyway

Cancun, Q.R. — The false report of armed men in a Cancun taxi resulted in the driver being arrest anyway. On Wednesday, a resident notified emergency services of armed men inside a Cancun taxi traveling along Arco Norte Avenue.

Nearby police were able to locate the cab by its number and stop it. After an inspection for firearms, police came up empty handed. However, after running man’s name through Platform Mexico, they got a hit. Cancun police detained 48-year-old Jorge N from Yucactan on an outstanding arrest warrant for the crime of dispossession.

He was taken to the State Attorney General’s Office and has since been transferred to Yucatan to face legal proceedings.
