Cancun, Q.R. — A Wednesday morning wildfire fire near the Xcaret office building in Cancun had local media buzzing. Early Wednesday, a large fire was captured on video by Cancun motorists along Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard.
Elements of the Quintana Roo and Transit Police were at the scene where they found workers from a private security company trying to quell the fire extinguishers. According to official reports, the fire started due to the fall of several high-voltage CFE lines.
The lines landed on the ground in an area of dry grass that started to smoulder. The lines are reported to have collapsed after the explosion of a transformer. Cancun firemen put out the fire.
Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) personnel arrived to make the necessary repairs to the downed power lines.
