Extra CFE hands arrive from Campeche and Yucatan to deal with PDC power outages

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Technical CFE personnel from the states of Campeche and Yucatan have arrived in Playa del Carmen. The extra hands were requested after a week of ongoing electrical blackouts.

On Saturday, a CFE brigade arrived to help with the ongoing issues that have affected large sections of the state, incuding Cancun. Playa del Carmen Mayor, Lili Campos, said the extra CFE hands arrived to help resolve the issues found in varying areas, which last week, included fires due to overheated wires.

“They sent us brigades from Campeche and from Yucatán so that the work would be much faster because this team that they brought has to make the connections in the electric power lines that are distributed to Villas del Sol.

“It has been three arduous days in which we have been pending a result,” she said.

While some areas were reconnected, others in areas such as Palmas and Misión de las Flores continued to experience power failures.

“I understand the annoyance of the public. Of course I understand it because we are in the middle of the hot season,” she said explaining that the goal of the additional brigade team is “to strengthen the substation that are high power transformers.”
