Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen assisted Municipal Police this morning in a single vehicle accident. The driver of a Cancun Safe Taxi ended up over a set of concrete posts allegedly due to erratic driving.
Emergency services were summoned to the scene early Saturday morning where they found the taxi hung up on the posts. At least two were holding the car in place and preventing it from rolling onto its roof when authorities arrived.
The car hit the posts, along with other city infrastructure at the intersection of Xcaret Avenue and Tankah Avenue. According to available information, the driver of the Safe Taxi was taking a corner at a high rate of speed when he lost control and ended up on top of the posts.

Area residents who heard the commotion outside on their avenue called police.
An ambulance was brought in to evaluate the driver who did not require medical assistance.
Officers from the Municipal Traffic Department arrived to secure the area while firemen okayed the vehicle for towing. Police did not comment on possible charges for city property damage.
