Cancun, Q.R. — An employees in the bed of a work truck was killed Monday after his vehicle drove head on into a city power pole. Paramedics called in response to the accident pronounced him dead at the scene.
Two people in the cab of the truck were injured in the Monday afternoon accident when the driver crashed into a concrete CFE pole. Police were called to the site of the crash on Kabah Avenue where the company vehicle was traveling with three men.
According to initial reports, the driver cargo truck veered to the right and crashed into the CFE located on the side of the road.
As a result, a man traveling in the box was crushed by the cargo the truck was transporting. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger inside the cab of the cargo truck were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police cordoned off the area to facilitate the work of emergency personnel while the injured were transferred to hospital and the body removed from the truck. An official cause for the crash is unknown.
