Cancun, Q.R. — A laundry fire on Sunday left a majority of a Cancun apartment in ruins. The Cancun Fire Department were requested at the apartment in SM 04 early Sunday afternoon in response to the electrical fire.
Firemen arrived to a smoke filled apartment that was hydraulically ventilated to remove the thick buildup. Inside, firefighters located the source, which ate through two rooms inside the residential unit.
The laundry room and an adjacent storage room were destroyed by the fire. Cancun firemen say despite the two-room blaze, there were no injuries reported in the incident.
In a brief statement Bomberos Cancun said, “personnel from the Cancun Fire Department responded to a fire in an apartment located near Super Block 04. The fire originated in the laundry area and a small storage room.
“Thanks to the prompt response of our personnel, the fire was promptly extinguished and contained. Hydraulic ventilation was subsequently implemented to eliminate the accumulated smoke and secure the area.
“Fortunately, no injuries were reported. We reiterate our firefighters’ commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the public. Serve and Protect!”
