Elderly man killed in central Cancun pedestrian accident

Cancun, Q.R. — An elderly pedestrian was killed Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle on Tulum Avenue. Paramedics from the Red Cross were at the scene shortly after motorists reported the 10:45 a.m. accident.

The man was crossing the Avenue near City Hall when he was struck by a vehicle. According to witnesses, the man was dragged for several meters before the vehicle came to a stop.

Municipal Traffic authorities cordoned off the area for the arrival of emergency vehicles. Red Cross paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle alleged responsible was arrested.
