Early morning blaze consumes Cancun La Palapita restaurant

Cancun, Q.R. — Firemen were unable to save a Cancun restaurant Friday in an early morning blaze. Authorities were notified of the burning building at around 4:30 a.m. through a 9-1-1 call.

Firemen were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. January 30, 2026.

Emergency personnel rushed to the building on Kabah Avenue in SM 248 where the La Palapita restaurant was found fully engulfed. Flames fanned by wind quickly passed through the building made of wood and palapa grass.

Exterior palapas that were part of the restaurant, were also consumed by flames. Emergency services were on scene until 6:30 a.m. due to the magnitude of the fire.

Late Friday morning, Cancun Firemen reported on the commercial establishment incident.

The fire also consumed exterior palapas that were part of the restaurant January 30, 2026.

“Members of the Cancun Fire Department responded to a fire at a commercial establishment in the early morning hours located in Region 248. The fire primarily affected the facade of the building, which had a palapa structure.

“Upon arrival, firefighters deployed attack lines to extinguish and cool the fire, and also carried out removal maneuvers to eliminate combustible materials. They successfully controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to other areas of the building.

“Security authorities assisted in securing the scene.Fortunately, no injuries were reported.”

Authorities are investigating a cause for the early morning blaze.
