Cancun, Q. R. — A retired Cancun transport van burst into flames Friday after slamming into a concrete light pole. Police attending the scene on José López Portillo Avenue had to call the fire department for assistance.
Speed is said to have been a factor in the crash after the driver lost control and hit the city pole. Moments after the driver got out, the unit began to burn. By the time firemen arrived, the old combi was fully engulfed in flames.
There were no serious injuries reported in the accident since the unit was no longer used for public services. The driver was transferred to Cancun hospital by ambulance for injuries sustained.
