Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a van was left seriously injured after colliding with a water truck. The two vehicle accident happened south of Cancun Tuesday morning.
According to early information, the driver of the van slammed into the back of the water truck while it was watering trees in the central median. The van had just left Cancun and was heading to Playa del Carmen at the time of the crash.
Due to the speed at which the van was traveling, the front end was completely destroyed and the driver left severely injured. At the moment of colliding with the tanker, the vehicle spun around and collided with the left side of a cargo transport truck that was passing at the time.
Municipal police officers, firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene to stabilize the driver who was taken to a hospital in serious condition. National Guard Highways ordered a tow truck to remove the damaged vehicles.
