Cancun, Q.R. — A Friday afternoon crash on José López Portillo Avenue has left one dead. The driver of a compact SUV was killed in the two-vehicle crash that sent the second car into a pole. The high speed impact of the hit caused the car’s engine to be pushed into the cab.
Emergency services arrived at the scene to find the male driver of the SUV laying on the Cancun road. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. The second driver was rushed to hospital.
According to Cancun Transit authorities’ report, the José López Portillo Avenue crash between the car and SUV was caused by excessive speed.
