Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a compact car was killed Monday after colliding with a city pole. The single vehicle accident happened around 2:000 p.m. on José López Portillo Avenue when the speeding driver climbed a central median.

Witnesses reported seeing the car drive onto the central median and subsequently crash into a metal streetlight. Due to the force of the impact, the driver died behind the wheel after the side of the car buckled inward.
