Cancun, Q.R. — A motorcycle driver was killed Wednesday morning after crashing into a metal pole. The accident happened when the motorcycle driver and the driver of a motorcycle taxi crossed paths.
Witnesses to the 7:20 a.m. accident reported one driver cutting off the other, causing the motorcycle driver to skid. Emergency services arrived at the Kabah Avenue accident scene in SM 248 where they found a deceased male.
The unnamed man was found laying in the roadway median where he hit a Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) post. The driver of the mototaxi, who was accused by witnesses of causing the accident, fled the scene.
Cancun police are using security footage to piece together accident events and locate the second driver.
