Cancun, Q.R. — A dump truck driver fled the scene of an accident Wednesday after crashing into the side of a bus. Cancun Transit were called in to deal with the two vehicle accident in the Prado Norte neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
According to the official report, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Yaxché Avenue near the Arco Vial. Witnesses reported seeing the dump truck driver lose control and hit the bus.
He was reported traveling at a high rate of speed when swerved and crashed into the side of the parked bus. The impact pushed the parked bus up over the sidewalk and into a tree, destroying its front end.
The tree was felled and the windshield of the bus shattered. The bus was empty at the time of the incident. The driver of the dump truck fled, abandoning his truck at the scene.
